Background & Requirements:
We are a public biopharmaceutical company that recently completed an IPO. We have an immediate opening for a senior accountant with BS/CPA, 5-6 years public company experience, and SEC reporting/SOX experience. We are implementing a new, Great Plains accounting system, so specific knowledge in this area would be very useful. This position will conduct the month-end close, provide variance analysis, and help with the 10Q/10K work. Knowledge of current accounting pronouncements and reporting techniques is required.

Job Description:
The senior accountant is a key member of the Finance team. Major responsibilities for this position include:

•  Maintenance of Accounting system and all aspects of the General Ledger.

•  Perform all functions of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll.

•  Perform the month-end close and make any necessary adjustments to the General Ledger.

•  Produce timely monthly financial statements.

•  Maintain bank accounts and complete monthly reconciliations.

•  File bi-weekly payroll and quarterly payroll tax payments.

•  Maintain cash forecasts.

•  Process monthly research and development costing reports.

•  Produce special analysis and reports as required.

•  Assist in the development of the quarterly reporting package which includes the 10Q, earnings conference call script and earnings press release.

•  Assist in the filing of other SEC filings such as 8K's, 10K's, Forms 3, 4 and 5 and proxies.

•  Develop and maintain SBIR grant reporting.

•  Develop and maintain sales and use tax reporting.

•  Assist with year-end tax planning and preparation of corporate tax returns.

•  Maintain all fixed assets systems & capital acquisition reporting.

•  Assist in the management of employee benefits program as it pertains to accounting.

•  Participate in the implementation of our Sarbanes Oxley program.

•  Participate in system implementations (general ledger and stock option reporting systems).


The successful candidate will be accustomed to working in a smaller, entrepreneurial-based company and be comfortable in a multi-tasking environment.
